The Revelation of the Rose
We all need to deeply know the Love of the Father. Our whole being longs for this confidence - to be fully loved by God.
Listening to God’s voice, learning to hear Him, is something Christ commands us to do when we are anxious about anything in our lives. Its a simple command and when its obeyed, it has profound effects upon our hearts, minds, and bodies.
Our discipleship school in Myanmar teaches our students how to be still, to look at nature, and listen for the voice of God. Here is Yamone sharing her experience:
"I listened for God’s voice as I was looking at the flowers in the garden. Something started stirring inside of me. I wondered if this may be God’s Spirit. I looked at one rose in the garden which has two colors (red and white). God revealed some things to me about Paul’s teaching. Paul tells us that we have two natures in side of us. One is our spiritual nature and the other is our flesh nature. In this Rose, Red is more predominant than white. Red takes up more space in the rose than the white. Likewise, when we give more room for our natural flesh desire, then it will occupy more space inside of us; But if we give more room for spiritual things inside us, people will see these good things and we will even be called His children. So, God challenged me to not give myself to worldly things or even consider worldly things. He wanted me to not make room for my fleshly desires but to give room for spiritual life. This was my very first time to receive God’s revelation through looking at flowers (nature).”
Yamone obeyed this simple instruction to look at birds and flowers. We invited her to obey Jesus and His command and created the opportunity for her to do that. She obeyed and the very first time in her obedience she had this profound revelation. It was so deep and beautiful - and real. What the Holy Spirit revealed to her is also seen clearly in scripture.
Paul says this in Romans 7:18-25 "For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. 22 For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, 23 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
Yamone was being taught by the Holy Spirit through nature - just as Jesus says can happen if we OBEY him and take time to be still and look at birds and flowers.
Today, are you anxious? Anxious about anything in your life? Then obey the simple command of Jesus and go look at birds and flowers. How exciting to know that God is waiting for you right now. He wants to meet you and bring you revelation that can free you from anxiety. So go. Obey. And then take some time to share your experience with us. Reply to this story with your own story.
